The study of anatomy during the Renaissance spanned a wide range of contexts and uses, from the classroom and the artist’s studio, to religious ritual. Discover fascinating sites connected with the doctors, scientists, and religious clerics who contributed to the study of anatomy at this pivotal time. A truly special angle of this trip is its level of exclusivity. Only by special permission of various officials and the Minister of Culture can we offer these experiences. For example, Leonardo Da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man is rarely – perhaps every 30 to 50 years – allowed out for public viewing due to its fragility. We view it, as well as other rarely seen works that we request, in a private room with a curator, after-hours, with the Museum all to ourselves for this viewing and dinner. Likewise, we have exclusive access to the University of Padua’s rare anatomical documents and first permanent Anatomical Theatre in Europe; similar access at Bologna University; and to the Rare Prints and Drawings Room in the Uffizi. Not all of exclusive experiences are outlined in the itinerary, as some must remain surprises. So, while other trips may include visits to locations like the Gallerie or the Uffizi, they do not offer our level of private access. Even if you have visited Florence and Venice before, you have not seen what is behind the doors that this trip will open for you. The best cuisine in Michelin-starred restaurants and private historic venues.
