Classical Gardens and Cultures

  Japan, Korea & China

DESCRIPTION:

Enter the beauty, peace, and grace of Japan, Korea, and China through their art, gardens, temples, and people. Gardening in East Asia is heavily influenced by Taoism, which emphasizes nature and mystery.

Visit the famous Japanese city of Kyoto, home to some of the most significant temples and gardens in the world. Ride the bullet train, visit feudal castles, and witness the juxtaposition of ancient and modern Japan.

Korea is swathed in green and Koreans are fascinated with nature and mountains. Its distinct culture is manifested in architecture, gardens, costumes, and beliefs, which we witness at museums, villages, and in bamboo forests.

In China’s Forbidden City, old neighborhoods, and Great Wall, we learn about architecture, history, and concepts such a symmetry and feng shui that are also evidenced in their gardens.

This is a trip of serene vistas and is a photographer’s paradise.
